The
1000 Islands Duty Free Store on Hill Island (near Gananoque, Ontario)
was and still is one of Heritage Signs biggest and proudest challenges.
The entire project included a 60ft long x 4ft high laminated cedar sign
located 20 feet in the air on a steel framework spanning the parking
lot. This was created in three pieces. The centre piece is 30ft long
with a 15ft piece on each end. One 15ft section is sponsored by Labatt's
Breweries. The 1950's era Labatt Streamliner delivery truck had to be
recreated from a postcard size picture. The entire work was sandblasted
and meticulously hand painted. Numerous other signs were created including
a 16'x32' billboard (marine plywood and vinyl) and several assorted
directional signs with instructions in both official languages. An incredible
challenge and an awesome spectacle.
